"I have been making real butterfly and flower jewelry for over five years. It all started out as something of a challenge to be solved after our young daughters had a great idea, and it has turned into a real passion, for myself and several family members.
The resulting pieces of the process are one-of-a-kind, piece of nature permanently preserved jewelry items – pendants, earrings, bracelets. I have not come across anyone else doing anything like this.
The flowers (or petals, or leaves) are dried, protected against fading with a UV protectant, and I apply what has become a proprietary technique of resin coating. I guard the formula and the exact procedure as a trade secret.
In the last year, I have applied a similar process to real butterfly wings, with wonderful results. No longer do beautiful butterfly specimen have to stay just under glass, hanging on a wall. Now, they can be worn as a piece of art jewelry. No butterflies are harmed in the process – rather, I work with farm raised butterflies that have completed their full life cycle."
